After tackling Burns Canyon, Big Bear makes for the perfect lunch stop. Fuel up at a local diner or café, enjoy the fresh mountain air, and prepare for more exploration.

The Descent: Two Options

Option 1: Grapevine Canyon Road

For the adventurous rider comfortable in sandy conditions, take Grapevine Canyon Road. The winding descent offers sweeping views of the desert before you land in Lucerne Valley.

Option 2: Coxey Road

For a less technical ride, turn left onto Coxey Road. This dirt trail is easier to navigate and provides a smoother route down the mountain, while still delivering stunning scenery.

Riding Tips

Watch for Mine Sites: The area is scattered with old gold mines—perfect for history buffs and photography enthusiasts.

Beware of SxS and Jeeps: Holcomb Valley and surrounding trails are popular with side-by-sides and Jeep explorers. Stay alert and share the trail responsibly.

Gear Up: Bring plenty of water, snacks, and tools for minor repairs. Cell reception can be spotty, so ensure your GPS is preloaded with the route.

Sand Ready? If you're tackling Grapevine Canyon, practice sand riding techniques to stay in control.
